So our mooring space had to be vacated, and the car hire days ran out, mum's dog left with kind neighbours,we saw none of our old friends and got no paperwork done, we did get the house ready for mum's return, something we suppose.
Getting back to our boat felt like coming home ( suppose it is ) this felt good, but a surprise too, for Baz;s mums house is really nice and in a good spot down in Dorset,we were worried that a taste of the easy life of flushing loos, limitless showers and a big beer chiller would tempt us back ashore, so the boat feeling like a home was also a relief, now, where to next ?
Having left the marina ( we were on a vacant residential mooring and the residents were coming back ) returned the car to the hire company, its was now early afternoon, hot weather, lovely spot, got to be a BBQ, so we set about it, luckily we had caught a couple of Trout in a quiet spot known to us as Morrisons, some other bits and liquid refreshment and we were off ! a lazy hot afternoon, this is what we signed aboard for.
Kept simple, the Trout were lovely.
Our table in the sun, note Bella waiting for anything edible to fall.
Baz rests with a cold pint of tea.
Inside the boat things were getting really hot, anyone know how the straighten a candle ?

And to the front
Best of all, scene from the boat, towpath side.
It feels hotter than ever today - but we are not complaining. It's a day for salad, fruit and plenty of cool drinks. There are lots of folk going by on narrowboats, wearing sunhats, hopefully suncream and drinking glasses of beer - all good stuff - cheers!
Bye for now
Baz and Ali
