What's up Duck ?

We are at a tricky time of year when it comes to the fire,we have had our multi fuel burner going 24/7 for six months, and could not have managed without it, ( we have diesel central heating as well, but have hardly used it, party because it's slow but mainly as it uses the electricity for the pump ) now things are starting to warm up ( hurray ) it can make the boat too hot and stuffy in the day, so, let it have a rest and burn out, but the evenings are cool and the nights cold, and in the morning, by the time you have got up and dressed to clean it out, find kindling etc to re-light it, add the time the boat  takes to warm up, well, so has everywhere else,   still will not be a problem for long, as Ali feels the cold and is due back tomorrow, so light the fire Baz!

While on the phone yesterday, I became aware of a lot of splashing by the side of the boat, what was odd, was, that it was the side by the bank, where there is only a couple of inches of space, so what could be in trouble in such a small gap?

Here is the answer, the poor thing had swum under the boat and popped up in the space between bank and hull of the boat, it couldn't swim out for the fenders block the way, flight or walking, are clearly not an option, and in it's panic, diving seems to have been forgotten, so I went out to assist, the duck taking one look at the " I am going to help you, but not sure how, expression on my face " remembered the dive option, and dived with such haste it probably popped up in the channel, still sorted, at least we now get time to see such things going on around us.

This hedge is changing daily, as nature tries to catch up on the slow start to the growing year.

The mosses are swelling and changing colour, as spring final sticks around.

Can you guess where the next piece of bank will collapse ?

And a reminder for Ali of the dogs waiting for her back on the boat, to open the snack cupboard for them!

Started out a strange day, with very heavy showers, followed by bright sunshine, may get a full battery charge without the engine ! well, if it stays sunny for a few hours, and if it does, Archie may have his coat clipped, it's not often that Archie wants the rain to fall !!!
Bye for now,
Baz and the Yorkies.
