We set off early to get to Stone, ready for Ali's mum and sisters Chrissie and Rach who are meeting us there. We were promised, non stop rain, so I was persuaded to tog up in full wet gear while I could, this usually scares away any clouds.
If it wasn't for the eight locks, today would be a doddle, Stone is only a few miles away, at the top of lock six we met a rude, miserable pair of wide beams in a working narrow boat, who seemed to think they had right of way to both locks, tough! get up a bit earlier in future.
We are now moored just outside Stone, and look forward to exploring the town with our guests later, bet that rain puts in an appearance just as we go out!
Baz, expecting the rain, it failed to show.......for once!
Local boat yard with paint docks in the background.
When Baz saw this he started to make long term mooring plans!
Solar panels seem to be in fashion around here, we should fit in.
Nice to see the trees fully in leaf, would be nice to see where you are going though.
These locks seem to have dried up !!
We now have a full boat, as Ali opens cards and presents brought up by her family, who are all here drinking tea. One thing she has had trouble adjusting to, is the lack of post, as we live aboard full-time and our postal address is still in Dorset, she feels it most on mothers days and birthdays etc.
Well new town to check out, so we will let you know how it goes,
bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
