Airhead dig out day ......or in the s.....!

After our shopping trip on Sunday, when all was put away and our strength and humour had returned, we moved the boat a mile or so out of Atherstone into a nice quiet spot in the countryside to enjoy the rest of the day.

Monday morning came and we both had the same idea, it has been four weeks since we fitted the Airhead composting toilet, a month of not worrying about finding elsan points, but we had been told  4 to 5 weeks you need to empty the err ...  solids container,  we fought furiously for the honour of doing this job, and I was the clever, lucky chap who won,  Ali was so disappointed,  better luck next time eh!.......I think!!

The whole toilet comes apart quickly and with ease, you are left with a bucket, .... a full bucket, .... a full bucket of XXXXX ( editor intervention )  All  you have to do is get the contents of the afore mentioned bucket, in to a bio bag and dispose of it. We had been out an purchased a few likely looking tools to help with the process, within minutes the plastic scoop had broken, the wooden spatula did the the same, the bio bags were flopping all over, Oh how we laughed,   we pressed on ......not a lot of choice really, we had decided that this was the  first job of the day, we had not had breakfast, ... thank goodness !! we took no photos, we don't need to do it for at least another month, we will get better,  best to change the subject.

Our quiet spot for a Sunday afternoon and today too.

Once we have water, food, and refreshments, who needs a town?

The view from the boat saloon is great, we have a large hedge on the towpath side.

Bella and ducklings, Bella does not approve  of feeding them.

One day she will fall in.

We did have a chat with a boater yesterday, who had come up from the Oxford canal. She has warned us that mooring may be difficult in places, due to long term moorers who break the rules of the cut, staying in one place, and one water point - Duke's Cut - is blocked off by them, ( nobody should moor at a water point ). The C & RT don't do anything about them, you have to wonder if the C & RT is fit for purpose. The Oxford Canal is the second most popular canal in the country and the school summer holidays are nearly upon us so we are starting to wonder about our plan to head down there as it sounds like trouble, I guess we will soon find out.

Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
