We went into Stone for a few bits of shopping, Ali in front, looking in all the doorways like a terrier in a rabbit warren, me the official bag carrier and wallet braking system. What a pleasant shopping area it is! the main high street being pedestrianised ( take note Shaftesbury council ) and a farmers market taking place, admittedly the sun was out and everywhere looks better that way, but for Ali to persuade me to sit at a pavement cafe for a coffee, well it must be good.
A pit stop was required by the bag carrying department.
Watching the busy high street, we have not found a cheese shop yet!
Coffee shop seating goes on behind the stall, a pleasant spot.
An interesting pub, well most of them are I guess.
We meet some really nice folk on the cut - last week while we were still moored at Heritage Marina, Ali got chatting to a lady out walking her dog on the towpath, in the course of conversation Ali asked if there was a local bus service to the shops, the answer was positive, but the lady (name of Jo) went the extra mile - literally- and offered Ali a lift to the supermarket as she was going anyway later that day, there are still plenty of nice people around - thanks Jo!
It's turned chilly this afternoon after a bright, breezy day. We're looking forward to a relaxed evening of dinner with a glass of wine on the boat, looking at the TV listings might have to get a DVD out!
Bye for now
Ali and Baz
p.s. As I type there is the most gorgeous smell of chocolate wafting around - no we don't have a calorie laden chocolate pud planned (shame!) we have stored some of the cocoa husks for the composting loo under the dinette seating!
