It is probably just as well, for turning up without the right cap and on a narrow boat, well, it just isn't done old boy. We have spotted a sign asking for £ 8.00 per night for mooring, we are hoping that it too is left over from the rowing frenzy, and won't apply to us poor narrow boaters ( fat chance )
Our trip down had been without any problems, well apart from having to share 3 locks with a hire boat, who's occupants insisted on playing old fifties music loud in the lock, they were all depressing dirges, and the music was no better, to cap it all when we were being healthy, eating an apple for a snack, they started to fry bacon, I ask you!
Young Alpacas or Llamas, hard to tell when so small
Nice gaff, bet there is a retired admiral sat up in the turret with a brass telescope
We passed the start of the Kennet and Avon canal, thought about swinging starboard to join
Ugh ! perhaps not, maybe on the way back if we come this way
Mississippi steamer ! what else would you expect on the Thames ?
Our Mooring Tonight
Looking forward, we are getting used to the width now
And to the stern, the rowers finish line stand can just be seen on the left
We have seen some fantastic houses, as we pass them on the water, they become boring after a few minutes, so we won't bore you with more pictures. Red Kites - they circle us like vultures, at one point we counted 12, hmmm, best check again that they are not, after all, vultures.
Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
