We tackled the first large lock ourselves as the lockies had not started work, in total we have done 6 locks and 17 miles of river. We did get into a bit of a race out of one of the locks, we needed to pass a narrow boat that was going too slow for us to maintain good steerage, and two cruisers wanted to get past the both of us, cue the river authority with their radar gun, I don't know the result, I tucked in behind one of the rather large cruisers and hope we are all ok, a speeding ticket on a narrow boat....... come on!
Large gaff with flag in Windsor
Another bridge, this time in Windsor
Ali looked on enviously as we past the shops
The boats are getting bigger, luckily so is the river
A view astern as we pull away from another boat
Our Mooring Tonight
Up river, nice Dutch barge for a neighbour
View down river, we hope to moor at Hampton court tomorrow
We are now about 10 miles shy of the the tidal Thames, we won't be able to do the full " under Tower bridge thing " this time, as we still are not VHF radio trained ( booked for the 26 th ) but they will allow us on as far as Brentford, where we will pick up the Grand Union canal, looking like we will give the centre a miss and start to work our way north again, as we try to work out where the winter stoppages are going to be, and where we want to be, when the cold season that we won't talk about arrives.
Bye for now
Baz and Ali
Hi guys
ReplyDeleteThe idea ............. a speeding ticket from a narrow boat!!!!!!!!! OOOOOH ........... I say! This really tickled me. We are off camping today, the weather looks set fair, and music, trees and beer beckon in Moira Furnace near Ashby de la Zouch. Lots of love Sister R
Hi R Think we are ok, no ticket, relief or disappointment, not sure which. Enjoy your weekend, will see you both soon. Baz.
