You Don't Have To Move To Have Fun

We saw the warning signs early, lots of marina boats coming onto the cut. We know there are limited mooring spots around here , so , we decided to be chicken and stay here for the bank holiday , we figured they all would be tucked back up in their marina berths by Tuesday. We are moored opposite land owned by the North Cheshire Cruising club, we have moored here before and not seen a boat moored there, however this weekend you would need a shoe horn to get another boat in!

Seen from the bridge, to the left are the towpath moorings, Micky is third one down. On the right, private mooring for the cruising club, it has been a busy few days, as club boats have been coming and going, a mix of narrow boats and cruisers, still they all seem a friendly crowd.

This boat had managed to run aground ( not difficult here ) when they finally powered their way out, they then got stuck under the bridge by their chimney, bad day stuff.

Here we have a head on collision, one day hire boat, the other a trad engine narrow boat -  they are not the fastest to slow down or stop, we could see this one unfold as we could see neither was giving way, each thinking they had right of way ( usually the one closest to the bridge has the right of way,) however, they were neck and neck. the first warnings came as the hire boat crew shouted " hold on everybody we are going to crash!" followed by lots of revving and the not very reassuring shout " how do you stop one of these b.....y things!" no one hurt, and some er....greetings and  good boating tips were exchanged.

View from the Galley Window.

As you can guess, our view is that of other boats at the moment, still may be better later.

We have lost count of the number of boats that have passed by today, on balance, staying put could be seen as boring , but it's been kind of nice to watch the boating world go by, exchange a few words and relax, we are getting better at that ever day.

Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
