Beware Of The Krays

We have had a pretty idyllic afternoon and evening, a little reading, a natter with Gordon and Tina, fellow liveaboards moored next to us, and travelling the same way, a glass of wine or two, used the binoculars to watch a barn owl hunting in the next field, nothing could disturb this warm peaceful evening............except the nearby splash of a Yorkie going teeth first into the cut ! here we go again, after hoicking a very wet, confused Bella back out of the water, ( now three all in the cut plunge stakes ) giving her a clean bath and rub down, the moment was lost, oh well, there is always tomorrow.

We have decided to stay another day here, it's pretty much perfect, no facilities, very few people, just uninterrupted countryside, we have been told that the large open expanse of grass we are sitting on, does flood in the winter, when the river Cherwell breaks it's banks ( 200 yards away ) but as this is definitely summer, it is dry.

The river Cherwell runs alongside the canal, very calm and muddy looking today

Tell tale sign of cray fish pots on the bank

Having pulled one up to look, these will be on a pub specials board very soon

Looking back from the river, Micky Jay can be seen moored under the trees

Our Mooring

To the stern, both boats behind left shortly after our arrival, we must check the composting loo !

Part of the view we have from our seats, the first hedge line is the river Cherwell

Having had a chat with Gordon and Tina, we are now thinking of getting on the Thames and having a bit of a potter,we know it will be busy but we are so close it seems a bit daft to turn round and go back up country just yet, no doubt we will change our minds a dozen times before we get there.

Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
