Birthday Boy

It was another very cold night and once again we woke up to the eerie silence that means the canal has frozen. The sun came out early so we have been using solar energy all day which is great but the low temperatures mean that we are still burning a lot of coal - a bag lasts 2 - 3 days and costs about a tenner a bag - roll on the Spring!
Baz's family kindly took Ali to the shops for some new bedding and essential food supplies - thanks Guy's much appreciated.
There has been steady activity from other boats all day - in particular holidaymakers who have picked up their hire boats from Heritage Marina back at Scholar Green. Most of the hire boats do not have a solid fuel stove, I hope they have packed thermals and hot water bottles because once the sun goes down the temperature is going to plummet again.

the starboard side, showing another frozen cut, come on spring we are waiting!

view from the stern, the boat behind has broken down, we have given them Richards number.

passing cloud hill on the way to the locks yesterday, we will walk up on our return.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY  PAUL" we  know it's on the 31st but you are a few hours in front so thought we would put it on today's on the off chance you ever read the blog  love Baz and Ali

Bye for now

  1. Surely spring must be on its way soon, guys.
The East North Easterly wind is starting to get to me! Bet the crew of the broken down boat were happy to have Richard's number.

Hope the canal defrosts soon; it sounds really cosy in the boat though
