We are going to miss this area, the nice views of the hills, friendly people, in a way the historic industry reminds me of Lancashire, the hills of Derbyshire and all with a Cheshire post code.
We said our goodbye to Cedric, Ali is convinced that he followed us ( male mallards do look a bit the same so I humoured her ) We saw our coal boat moored up, so pulled along side for a couple of bags, made a change from them coming to us.
Because of the rain we took no pictures on route, what has annoyed Ali is that we passed three herons, all of which stayed still as we passed, rather than fly away at the last minute like they usually do, I think they were so wet and miserable that they didn't care anymore.
Cedric gets a few farewell bran flakes.
Bollington's cruising restaurant, hope the foods better than their smiles suggest.
Final view of White Nancy, from the town.
We have both thought the same thing as we travel back. We may be going back on ourselves,
but it doesn't feel like the same canal on our return, No leaves or blossom on the way up, in fact snow and ice was our backdrop, now, well as the picture above shows all change, still after today's wet episode, I hope last weekend wasn't our summer.
We will have spent two months on the Macclesfield, and Peak Forest canals, and have really enjoyed it, the pubs, cheese shops and great pies too, no where can we go next ? It had better have none of the afore mentioned goodies on it, or we will both need a new wardrobe!! which canal is known for lettuce shops and spa water ?
Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
