The boat in front is an old working boat conversion, we could hear the engine chugging away, some engine noises can be a bit irritating ( mobile generators always irritating ) but not the relaxed chug on this boat.

After a nice cup of tea we had a tour of this 70' ft historic boat ( Baz is already going on about getting a more traditional boat again ) they are doing a lovely job, it has a warm homely feel to it,and the engine! well, there are believed to be only two left on the cut, this one and the one in " Hadar " owned by Jo and Keith, who's blog Ali has looked in on since we first started to think of buying a boat ( link on front page Joboatwoman )
It was really nice to see them both again, they moved off first thing ( nearly, first thing ) this morning, with 3000 miles of canals and rivers to explore, what's the chances of meeting like that ?
Bernie and Lee. Lee is much taller when stood on land.
The rare " National " engine, beautifully polished and loved.
Ali, stands next to Electra, little realising she will soon own one like it !!
We are happy with the mooring spot, and lucky to have slotted in here, our trip down yesterday was a pleasant one, we saw Chris from the boat " Little Acorns " unfortunately we couldn't talk as we passed on a tricky bend with a bridge.
you can never find a loo when you need one, and then!!
Hmmm, with some work this could be the sort of thing we want.
Some cute piglets, where is the bread and sauce Ali?
The rain seems to have stopped, so we plan to have a walk with the dogs and explore the area, to see what lies in front. When we have gone down the two locks, we join the Coventry canal and believe it's a tight junction with a swing bridge that needs opening immediately, so we had better get the paint pot out again!!
Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
Those traditional looking boats don't have ROOFS? Surely that's a step too far for Mum. She's never really enjoyed camping all that much...
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Phil - she would be issued with a brolly!
