Murder Most Foul

You can't help but feel happy when you wake up and the sun is shining, water reflections are dancing all over the boat's ceilings and walls, and you have all day to enjoy it all, this is what we signed on for, and we must try  to remember these days when we are cold and wet.
I did try to make good the marks in the paintwork from yesterday, it now looks worse! We have a gentle, intermittent breeze, just strong enough to blow bits off the surrounding trees onto the now tacky paint, I give up, will try again another day, how much was that quote again ? Starting to sound the better option.

The Murder of Christina Collins

Christina was travelling by narrow boat to London to join her husband there, travelling by narrow boat saved them some money, when compared to using the coach, a saving she was to regret, for during the journey she was raped and murdered by the three drunken bargemen.
her body was discovered in the canal at Rugeley near here, on the 17th of June 1839, her body was taken up the steps at the Talbot inn, these steps are still known as the bloody steps today.
The three men were arrested and tried, two sentenced to death and hung, the third was transported to the colonies.
The story was adapted by Colin Dexter for an episode of Morse  ...The wench is dead.

Statue dedicated to Christina near the Star pub in Stone.

The Star, Build two hundred years before the canal seen next to it, now that is what I call forward planning and a feel for a good business opportunity.

The Star seen with a boat in the lock with compulsory gongoozlers

Narrow boat open for teas and light lunches, not a bad plan Ali !

Ali has her dental appointment tomorrow morning, we then plan to get back on " plan " and start moving, along the T & M  hoping for a sunny cruise.

Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
