The mission.
Fill up cupboards, stay north of Thrupp for 24 hours, then move into 48 hour mooring slot for the weekend, remain in situ over the weekend thus not getting too involved in weekend cruisers.mission debrief.
We are now south of Thrupp, the food stocks remain low ( cold beer included ) Ali has bravely walked on alone to scavenge for any edible items ( rumour of a Tesco ) in Kidlington, she muttered that she may be gone for a while.
Thrupp, we were told was wonderful, all we saw was mile upon mile of long term moored boats, what few slots are available to people that actually cruise the canal system, were occupied, so before we knew it we had passed both Thrupp, and two water points, the sun was now full on, Baz was doing a good impression of a cooked lobster, and was getting a teeny weeny bit on the cross/ grumpy side, so we have pulled over maybe for the night or until it cools a little, then may look for a more scenic spot.
The cruise up to Thrupp was really nice, with lots of variety and often well needed shade, we had to do a short stretch of the river Cherwell as both canal and river merged for a mile or so. after remote countryside moorings, it's always a shock to come back into towns etc, but as that's where they put the shops, we have to do it now and again.
The run to Thrupp was beautiful
And offered shade in places
We passed a shady dale with a outdoor community living in the woods.
Some bridges felt a bit tight.
Heron walks off in disgust as we disturb his fishing.
What's going on here, two wind turbines and some rugby posts? even I could kick a ball through them !
Some boats with names of interest,( you know who you are )
Our Mooring Tonight ?
We are enjoying this hot ideal boating weather, but it does get very warm both in the boat and standing at the tiller, so for the dogs sake if not ours, we must pull in and take shelter, where we end the day and what we do tomorrow, can be talked about after a cool drink.
Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
