We had left Abingdon after a little fresh food shopping, filled up the diesel and water, and set off on a fine day on toward London, a funny sort of cruise for when we started we could see Didcot power station, and after over four hours of travel, could still see it ! The river had opened up again, making it a pleasant relaxing trip, though four powered and manned locks, to our present mooring, a quiet spot and quite a climb off the boat, so much so that we are using the bow to get on and off, we are not sure who is finding it hardest, us or the dogs.
Passing through Abingdon, not a bad little place
Didcot power station, seemed to be with us all day
Only half a bridge to pass under, we were ready for it, hard to miss in fact
Double trouble, two boats travel together, must be love
Fast approaching, Clifton Hampden bridge, so many arches, so many choices
Our mooring, stern view
And the bow view
Some boat wreck survivors swim past
The hill in the background is the site of a old fort, we are moored opposite it
We have travelled about nine river miles, when you take out the bends it's more like six as the crow would fly ( the crows we see spend ages flying around trees ! ) But our move down the Thames continues, things can only get busier as we tick off the miles ( slow ticks )
Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.

ReplyDeleteI can just imagine Ali scrambling.
