Well in the big to move or not to, not came out a clear winner, we had seen bits of ice drifting past the boat and on talking to some of the old timers of the cut ( who on discussing weather suddenly seem to come from deepest cornwall or be from a pirate stock ) they say after looking thoughtfully at the sky and sniffing the air " _ 4 tonight the cut will freeze ) we know they get it off the net like we do but you go along with it and thank them anyway. So we stay for now and start to get ready for the cold.
1 fill up water containers in case the tank or pump etc freeze in the night
2 top up the diesel to cut down chance of condensation forming in the tank and mucking up the engine
3 empty cassette loo in case .....yes you can guess frozen elsan point etc
4 coal off roof into cratch area for ease of filling
5 take Ali into town for new boots.....what !!
These two visitors managed to scare Bella while Baz was checking the top boxes - she hurtled off down the towpath, probably got hissed at, Baz then had to go searching for frightened dog who luckily had been spotted by another dog walker who said 'she went that way looking terrified - I couldn't catch her!'
All ended well with Bella back safe and no harm done -
dogs eh? - they keep us on our toes......
Sun going down behind Micky Jay in a clear sky can only mean very cold night ahead.
Keep you posted, Baz and Ali.
