Drying Out.

After yesterdays soaking, we have been enjoying doing nothing much, but staying dry while doing it, the last items of clothing have been taken in from the cratch, now dry again.  I have been watching the battery management system for massive improvement ( better be ) on the solar charging, the problem is, you guessed, lack of sunlight, and worse, gusty winds. The new panels look and feel vulnerable to strong winds, and we don't want to chance putting them into full on follow that sun mode just yet, or ever come to think of it.

Storage..........the roof.

While we were having the new panels fitted , we mentioned that we had a " busy roof " or full of junk, as some boaters may see it, but there is a plan and a need to store items, particularly as live aboards, who are continual cruisers, so no car, no mooring with shed or storage to put those handy bits that you may want or need in the future, everything on the boat must have a place, and at least one regular use, basically if we can't find a sensible place to keep it, we don't have it.

At the front is the coal platform, next the paint and bits roof box, bits such as shopping bags ( favourite of Alis ) and other odd low value items, next the new solar panels.......well I had to get another picture in of them.

This picture has the log box ( full of wood found on our travels ),then comes things like, boat pole, hook, gang plank, washing line and our two original solar panels, so as you can see, not a lot of room left for sunbathing or deck quoits etc.

View From The Galley Window.

We have moored here before, but it does look different without a foot of snow, and leaves on the hedgerows.

Starboard side, miles of open countryside.

Port side, more fields this time with cattle enjoying fresh meadow grass, having been in sheds for months, they really do enjoy having grass under their hoofs, even if it's a bit wet.

Our plan is to stay here over the weekend, and look to go down the locks ( sadly without help from my brother Chris and family ) at the beginning of next week, we need to sort out our tunnel light, and there is a boat yard further down the cut.

Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.

  1. Hey up you two.
Those panels look good, might have to seriously think about it myself now. Ali, don't worry about the book, we'll bump into each other later in the year, no doubt. We'll be gently heading doen the T&M, what are your plans?

    1. Hi Geoff and Mags,

Great to hear from you, hope everything's well.

We are meandering slowly back down the Macc and at the moment it looks like we'll go through Harecastle Tunnel and head towards the Coventry, might do the Caldon with the possibility of exploring a little further south for a while. Only thing is I need to spend a little while in Dorset with Baz's Mum so will be a 'landlubber' again. Still - Baz can use the time getting a couple of things fixed on the boat.
I have nearly finished the India River book and have really enjoyed it, we'll keep it safe until our paths cross again.

      cheers
      Ali and Baz
