Pass The Salt

Despite our ideal mooring site, we decided to move on, this sometimes is a difficult decision, for if you like a spot, and do not know what is ahead, and are in no rush to get anywhere in particular, the temptation is to stick with what you know and like, but that of course is not what our new life is about, so onwards we go.
It was a glorious morning, and we have done little cruising in such fine weather, again a short easy trip, with only the one lock, we passed Salt, and moored at Weston upon Trent, our main reason being to pick up milk and a newspaper, but we found the shop had closed down, oh well, we will stay the night here anyway.

Sun up, shades on, we are off.

Ali works the only lock of the day, bet those steps have claimed a few victims.

We pass under Salt bridge, low and unusual.

Passing some quirky permanent moorings.

Weston hall sits on the hill, overlooking the village.

After all the pictures we took of bare trees in snowy fields, this is a treat.

View From The Side Hatch

Port side, to the rear.

And to our front.

No sooner than settled, our guests arrive, food please !

Our next stop planned is Great Haywood, we may move that way tomorrow, for with no shop here, Ali will have no weekend news paper, and that just won't do, so we will see how we feel in the morning.

Our long term plan is to get onto the Coventry canal, and aim for the Oxford canal, for the summer, and to plan our winter cruising area.

Bye for now,

Baz and Ali.
