Up The Junction

Ali has got her paper, so all is is well with the world, in fact we dropped lucky with today's mooring, we were kind of expecting a semi rural,  fringe of a town type of spot, as we are at the junction of two major canals, the T & M and the Staffs and Worcester, but its a nice spot , quite busy with boats, partly the junction, but also a hire fleet is based here, with  that, coupled with weekend and nice weather, well, lots to watch and wave at.
So far we have found a great farm shop ( not cheap ) and have stocked up with the fresh stuff, and more cheese!! Ali has found a pub, as well as some nice dog walks, plus a man is coming to look at fitting a fly screen to the side hatch for us, and  we have only been here a few minutes!!!  I feel an expensive time coming up while we are here, oh well.

Our last mooring, the swans were nosey, this one is looking into the boat through the side hatch.

And gets a reward for cheek, from Baz.

Heron, walks off in disgust, as we disturb his fishing spot, Ali shouted " 5 Ratcliffs garden to him " sorry Paul.

A peep at the Staffs & Worcester canal from the junction bridge, for another day.

View into the boatyard.

Port Rear, back to the canal junction, about 100 yards back.

And to our front, peace and quite.

Looking back from the boatyard at the bridge over the canal junction.

A couple of you have asked how we are getting on with the composting loo, well so far so good, we have learnt as we go ....so to speak. We did ask a few questions of the boaters who had helped at the beginning, but they seem to have gone quiet, sick of silly questions I guess, we did find the cocoa bean husks, thanks to Ali's sister Chrissie, and the coffee filters, we have more than a few, but we still have the first emptying to deal with, so we will keep you posted, if you really want!!

We plan to spend the weekend here, then carry on down towards the Coventry canal.

Bye for now,
Baz and Ali.

  1. Composting Loos - Disposal!
Liquids are easy any toilet or sanitary station.
Solids - if you have to deposit them in a sanitary station check that it has a large orifice at the bottom of the chamber, otherwise it can block up. I use lots of water and a mooring pin to break up clumps. Take your time and it will all flush away.
If you have nowhere to get rid of it then we bag it in heavy duty poly bags to be disposed of as above or composted for 3 months before use on the garden.
