Short Hop

We stuck to our decision to move, and reluctantly left what is for me an ideal mooring, we aimed to get a little nearer to a water point and to the locks we must tackle next,  Napton On The Hill it was then.
As usual we were away early ( some things still have not changed ) we think it is the best time to cruise, cool, not too many boats, and best of all the wildlife is still in sight, before hiding from the inevitable dog walkers, joggers etc. I had dressed for full on sun, a bit premature at seven in the morning, consequently my legs were going blue and I was resembling a Smurf, but I figure if I can't wear shorts now -  late June, then when ?
We are moored for the day, by a pub called "The Bridge at Napton " so as you can guess, we are near a bridge too.
During a cruise, we get a load of washing done, this is because the engine powers the 240 volt generator, so we may as well use it now rather that start the engine just for a load of washing, we now look like proper canal gypsy's with our drying clothes hanging everywhere.

Napton  windmill can be clearly seen for miles, shame about the white trellis on the front, they will never get a rose to climb it!!

A look back on today's water road.

Left and you are in a marina, right and on your way to Warwick , we chose Oxford.

Today's Mooring

To the front, the pub and Banbury ( few miles yet )

All quiet to the rear.

Opposite us, the hill they stuck Napton on.

The weather continues fine so we are making the most of it by having some lazy days - boat admin can wait!

This is probably a one night mooring, so tomorrow 9 locks then on to Fenny Compton and Cropredy in time for the weekend we think.
