SPLASH ! We told you so

We relaxed on the bank, great view, plenty of wildlife, mainly ducks -  Bella's favourite, she was again hanging on the edge of the moored boat, Ali threw some bread for the ducks, the ducks rushed for the feast, Bella turned quickly to see what was going on, and as predicted on yesterdays blog.......she fell in, she popped up again and headed for the bank to be pulled out. That is the problem with falling in the cut, getting out is hard for humans because of the raised edges, pretty much impossible for any small animal, so if you don't hear them plunge in....well it's a worry.

As we move towards the Oxford canal, we have to pass through some built up areas, after a stop for water and then a pull in for diesel, Nuneaton came next, and went , we had decided to moor before Bedworth subject to a half decent spot, we found it shortly after swerving to miss a sunken narrow boat!

The sun is out again, we now just have to keep Bella out of the water.

A wet Bella explains that her mishap was actually Ali's fault for throwing the bread in

Filling with water at the old Hartshill yard.

The yard still has a 19th  century blacksmiths forge and carpenters shop.

Today's water road

As with all roads, it has it's problems, here a boat with rising damp!

As we get closer to the towns, human rubbish appears, we are waiting for the rest of the  chairs to pass by.

HARD A STARBOARD!!

Two work boats passed, the second one on tow, at the helm Dave from Norbury wharf, good to see him again, he was very helpful during our stay in the area.

We are stopping here for a day or so - the weather is dry and humid, great conditions for taking things easy and keeping plans flexible.

Bye for now

Baz and Ali

  1. So by my count that levels the scores in terms of dog-plunging, right?
