White Nancy

As we have not moved today ( windy gusts of over twenty mph,) Baz decided to take the dogs for a walk up one of the local hills, picking on the one closest they set off just after lunch. The hill is known as the saddle of Kerridge and on the northern end White Nancy can clearly be seen, mainly because it's painted white and is not very subtle, built in 1817 for the Gaskell family to commemorate the battle of Waterloo, originally it was a room with a view complete with stone furniture, of course it had to be sealed up for the usual reasons, it's believed to be named after the lead horse that pulled the materials to the top for the construction.

White Nancy, still painted for the Olympics.

a view from the top, Clarence mill can be seen in the centre.

Western side, view of Macclesfield, Jodrell bank can be seen on the horizon ( Gav )

Eastern view from saddle of Kerridge.

As mentioned earlier we have had a windy day but sunny and dry, again the solar panels have charged the battery bank, so no need to start the engine again, this always brings a smile to Baz's face. We have no plans for tomorrow as yet, see what the day brings.
bye for now,
Baz and Ali.
