We have touched on the problems with mooring on the Mac before, firstly shallow edges, the Mac is saucer shaped rather than a trough, then the condition of the edges is poor in some areas Marple being one .
Picture shows the poor condition of the edges, what you don't see, is the edging stones that have fallen in the cut, waiting for boaters to try and moor, we like to be tight to the bank for the dogs to get on and off safely.
We have also learnt to keep a sharp look out for pinch points, where the canal narrows suddenly for a short distance, worst when the sun is in your eyes, or somebody's saying "look over there " at the wrong moment.
After leaving Marple at an early age, the family moved to Glossop, not too far away from here, we may catch a bus and explore it, though I have heard it has grown massively since I left in the late 70's
Ali has walked twice into nearby High Lane today - once to see what it has to offer - a sprinkling of shops on a very busy road and the second time to ask a pharmacist's advice on Hayfever medication for Baz.
The cut is very busy today with the gorgeous weather bringing lots of boater's out of winter hibernation.
Jo Boatwoman and her husband Keith went by from Bugsworth on their handsome boat 'Hadar' - Jo and Keith are fellow bloggers.
Bye for now
Baz and Ali
How do you get on with nasal sprays baz? that might take the drowsiness out of the equation. I reserve the pills only for the worst days- the rest of the day just grin and bear it. they make me fall asleep. the other thing you could try is taking a pill right before bed, then it works as a sleeping pill too!
