Out Of Town

We like to moor for a weekend and not move, as the canal can be busy with day boats and weekend cruisers, but we decided to find a quiet spot with a bit more light, we only had to move a mile or so and now have a perfect mooring. Braunston village is the sort of place we enjoy for a 48 hour stopover - stock up the food cupboards and get rid of the rubbish, but after that it's the countryside that holds appeal, especially at this time of year. The dogs do enjoy a free romp on the towpath, and the solar panels really kick in when not over shadowed by trees.

Canals meet, to the right, the Grand Union, and the left, the Oxford, no traffic lights as yet.

And to the rear

A peep over the hedge

On the towpath side, again open and relaxing

No roads or railway lines here, mind the birdlife can be very noisy - in a nice way!

We've been having some very blustery, wet weather but it's really brightened up today. There is a lot of boating activity, hire boats and share boats seem to be in the majority.

For 8 months now we have been cruising in Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire we're now moving into Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire the scenery is changing and the canals have different characteristics and no doubt foibles to discover. With Fenny Compton, Cropredy and Thrupp up ahead there should be plenty of material for the blog - we'll keep you posted.

Bye for now

Ali and Baz
